come esprimere le preferenze:would rather

In questo post ho spiegato come usare il verbo to prefer-preferire
per parlare delle preferenze

Una alternativa è usare  WOULD RATHER
molto usato nel parlato con la forma contratta I'd rather

Would Rather + forma base del verbo
I would rather(not) go
Would Prefer +  infinito del verbo
I would prefer(not) to go

I prefer to live in the country / I prefer living in the country.

sogg+prefer + nome
I prefer  white coffee
I prefer salad on the side (per contorno)

con i verbi
sogg+prefer + to verb + rather than + forma base + nome

CHE DIFFERENZA?

 I'd prefer to walk (rather) than take / taking the bus. si usa quando si riferisce a quel momento,a una situazione o cosa specifica

I prefer walking to taking the bus .

 il verbo in ING si usa quando si parla in generaleCHIEDERE
Would you prefer tea or coffee? Coffee, please
What would you prefer?

USO QUOTIDIANO
Prefer è abbastanza formale.Nella conversazione quotidiana si usa
like...better 

I prefer football to tennis
I like football better than tennis

sogg+ would prefer + to verbo
I'd prefer to go out

sogg+ would prefer + nome

USO QUOTIDIANOwould prefer è abbastanza formale.Nella conversazione quotidiana si usa would rather(lo vedremo nel prossimo post)
